Our Strategic Focus & Plan of Works from 2008-2010
|
|
Every successful organization must take stock of their resources and the priorities of their constituents when establishing a course of action. Our leadership and staff have chosen two prime areas in which to concentrate our energies over the next three years. They are:
Advocacy By banding together, we blend our individual voices and influence to advocate for community and chamber priorities. Our association serves as a single point-of-contact with local and county governments as well. In our 2007-2010 Plan of Works we seek to:
• Stage interviews and forums of interest
• Track and influence local, regional and state issues impacting the commerce
community
• Network, develop, and maintain effective relationships with government officials

Economic Development Our work in this area takes many forms, from the concerted efforts of our members to recruit new businesses to our area to promoting our area as one of the best locations in Northeast Ohio and among the strongest environments in which to do business. Through our various educational programs and our annual business expo, we’re dedicated to helping members build their network of business peers, from whom they can learn and transact business. In our 2008-2010 Plan of Works we seek to:
• Mount business expos and networking events
• Publish directories and business communications
• Compile community data for business
• Support development initiatives
• Mount business retention initiatives
• Sponsor business recognition programs
• Workforce development
• Provide Business Incubator programs
• Promote and Market the WHA

Looking Ahead Our Chamber remains committed to the issues of advocacy and economic development for our community and region. These include business growth and attraction. We believe that in the coming years, these will continue as urgent priorities. At the same time, we will remain flexible and open to course corrections where necessary. By maintaining a sharp focus on just a few priorities, our chamber is uniquely positioned to foster a vibrant free enterprise environment. That environment, in turn, stimulates the creation of more jobs, rising wages and a growing tax base for the communities in which we live and work. In the end, that’s the real work of this and other effective chambers of commerce. We hope you’ll consider joining us in this crucial work.
